Small Talk at Froeter Design Company

On Tuesday, November 8th, Froeter Design Company was privileged to host the AIGA Chicago’s Small Talk event. Small Talk events are a great way for those in the design community to get together and view each others work while learning about different business practices and design methods.

We kicked off the night with some wine, tacos from Perez Restaurant and two different styles of home-brewed beer—a Saison brewed by Chris Froeter and an APA Brewed by Scott Theisen. After a quick presentation by the event sponsors (Neenah Paper and Dupli-Graphic) and an introduction to our studio, attendees were encouraged to look through our work, ask questions and get to meet our office in an informal setting.

In our opinion, the event was a great success. We met a crowd of new faces, and had a chance to catch up with some already familiar. We would like to thank everyone who made it out on that cold, rainy evening.

Great Way to Visualize Disk Usage

DaisyDisk is an application for your mac that scans your disks and gives you an interactive visual map of how you are using your computer’s memory. Not only is the map helpful to see where the majority of your disk space is being used (and wasted), but it looks awesome! The navigation is set up so you can jump back and forth through your various folders and it will regenerate the map instantly. You can also delete your junk files right from DaisyDisk. This is a very well thought out and beautifully designed app. You can find it at daisydiskapp.com, or at the Mac App Store.

Recent Workings: Chicago Children’s Choir Video

The Chicago Children’s Choir is a multiracial, multicultural choral music education organization, shaping the lives of children through musical excellence. Froeter Design created this video with photographer Jeff Sciortino to show the impact the Choir has by following two singers who rose through the ranks of the Choir. Two 30-second cuts of the video were also made following each of the two members filmed. The video was used as a tool to promote the choir and also gain funding and support throughout the community. See alternate cuts of the video on our youtube page at www.youtube.com/FroeterDesignCompany.
